The Importance of Regular Teeth Cleaning for Children in Greensboro

Your child’s dental health is incredibly important. One way to help maintain your child’s dental health is to bring them to the dentist for regular teeth cleanings. During their first decade of life, your child’s teeth are at significant risk for cavities. Dr. Sona Isharani and the staff at Triad Pediatric Dentistry in Greensboro, NC welcomes you to bring your children in for teeth cleaning. A teeth cleaning will remove plaque from the teeth that normal brushing is unable to and will help protect their teeth from cavities and identify any cavities that have already formed.

Brushing Is Not Enough

While you may be used to the daily routine of helping your child brush their teeth while teaching them the right techniques to do it one day on their own, brushing is not enough to keep teeth as clean as they need to be. This is because toothbrushes are unable to reach all the groves along the surface of the teeth and it is also difficult to clean the more difficult angles in the mouth. Flossing helps, but even this does not get rid of every bit of residue which becomes lodged between your child’s teeth and gums. This makes it especially important to come in for regular cleanings so that your child receives the care necessary to prevent long-term plaque buildup.

The Importance of Baby Teeth

Due to the temporary nature of baby teeth, many parents can assume that regular cleanings are not as important as when the child’s permanent teeth eventually come in. After all, aren’t these teeth just going to fall out one day anyway? This is not a correct assumption to make. Baby teeth play many roles including providing the ability to properly chew, assist in speech development and provide a proper pathway for the eventual eruption of permanent teeth. Children should receive cleanings the same as adults – once every 6 months.

Maintaining healthy teeth and gums, even on baby teeth, is important to the dental health of children. Regular dental cleanings will play a large role in making sure the path to a lifetime of oral health starts in the best way possible. If your child needs a dental cleaning, please call Dr. Sona Isharani at Triad Pediatric Dentistry today at (336) 804-8668.

Took my 2 year old in for his first appointment. I had a very good experience. The people on staff are friendly and easy to talk to. My kid was able to be his usual lively self. This helped me while I talked with Dr. Isharani and her assistant. They pulled up his favorite TV show on YouTube while they explained his dental care needs at this age. Also had little car toys and rattles. This is a super warm and professional practice. I would definitely recommend it. I came out learning how to better assist my kid’s oral hygiene. And my kid was able to enjoy himself!
