Meet Dr. Chavala Harris
Dr. Chavala Harris, a native of Winston-Salem, NC, has practiced dentistry in the Triad for over 11 years and has focused her care on pediatric and teen patients for the last few years. Treating patients and their families with compassion and care has been Dr. Harris' focus.
Dr. Harris' passion for dentistry sparked from her own positive experiences with her family Dentist and Orthodontist. She completed her undergraduate career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Biology with a Chemistry minor. She then attended Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry. After receiving her Doctor of Dental Surgery, she then completed a two-year General Practice Residency at Atrium/Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.
During her Residency, she saw special needs adult and pediatric patients. During this time, Dr. Harris also provided dental treatment and fabricated dental appliances for patients undergoing head and neck cancer treatments, severely immunocompromised patients, and those requiring dental treatment to be completed in a hospital setting. While providing care for these patients, Dr. Harris also worked in a private practice setting to provide cosmetic dental treatment to enhance the appearance and smiles of many patients. Her desire to work solely with children and teens stemmed from her mentors in dentistry, who provided superior care with compassion and skill. Everyone that meets her enjoys her presence and feels comfortable right away.
Dr. Harris has been an advocate for the American Lung Association by raising funds for the early detection, treatment, and care for those with lung cancer. Dr. Harris is a member of the North Carolina Dental Society and has dedicated her career to providing the best dental treatment for her patients by taking continuing education classes monthly. A strong sense of family has always been essential to Dr. Harris, as well as cooking, reading, and traveling.
