The importance of baby teeth

While it’s true that children are using a set of teeth that they will inevitably lose, this temporary set of teeth is still incredibly important. This set of teeth needs to survive until the permanent adult teeth guide them out of the gums. This will help ensure that a child’s adult teeth will grow in correctly and with proper spacing.

Child Fillings in Greensboro NC area

Oral hygiene is important the moment a baby’s first teeth begin to surface and proper oral hygiene should be taught to children at a young age. Even with these precautionary steps, sometimes your child may still develop a cavity that will require filling.

Baby teeth need fillings

Just because we all view baby teeth as temporary, it’s still important to realize that these temporary teeth are going to stick around for several years before being replaced with permanent teeth. During this time, it’s important to maintain proper oral health. When a baby tooth has cavities or decay, it may be determined to drill out the cavity and then fill or crown it accordingly. Your child’s baby teeth assist adult teeth to come in properly, so losing these teeth before they are ready to be replaced is not a good situation for your child’s permanent teeth.

White fillings

Dr. Isharani provides white fillings for children needing them. White composite resin is used by Dr. Isharani for several reasons including:

  • Cost Effectiveness
  • Easily conforms to the shape of the tooth
  • Requires minimal drilling and tooth preparation

Dr. Isharani will remove the decay before the filling is placed. The procedure takes only a single appointment. Once the filling is in place, your child should continue to practice good oral hygiene so that the filling is properly cared for due to the possible recurrence of decay if the teeth are not taken care of properly, even post-filling. If decay re-occurs on the tooth, a filling replacement may be needed.

Please give Dr. Isharani a call at (336) 804-8668 to schedule an appointment if you feel that your child may need a white composite resin filling. Dr. Isharani is dedicated to making the experience as stress free as possible for your children and you.
